1965 Jet Board

Engine

Engine - Finished

Above is a shot of the fully rebuilt engine. The two parts that were impossible to find were new oil seals and any new gaskets. The oil seals seemed in good condition so instead of disturbing them I decided to leave the in place.

The gaskets were made by scanning the parts face down in the scanner. I then drafted the contact line and was able to create an 8 1/2" x 11 sheet which I could lay over some gasket paper and cut through. If you need the gasket outlines click here for a .pdf file The exhaust gasket was made out of sheet aluminum due to the heat of the exhaust gasses.

I also replaced the pull start cord, handle, spark plug, electrical wires, and most of the stainless steel hardware. Everything was oiled up and put back together with great care. I was told by the previous owner that the board was working before he stored it which turned out to be untrue. The timing was set 90 degrees off where it should have been so there was no chance it would ever have run. We fixed the problem when rebuilding the motor.
